"Things are good!" . . . only p-day in the MTC! #2

Instead of writing us a letter on his p-day, Tanner just copied and pasted my letter that I wrote to him and then answered my questions. Here are some of his answers . . . email #2 . . . Tanner flies out this Wednesday, March 2nd!! 3 of his district goes to his mission to Independence and the other 5 go to North Dakota! Too bad they aren't going to the same mission!

Hey Tan Man,
When is your p-day? I can't quite figure it out! I'm hoping today because I want to hear the details! Thanks for sending all the photos. At least we have known you are alive . . . and you sound and appear happy!  Hope that is the case!
Tanner's district in the MTC!
Today is my p-day! Sorry I haven't been able to write very much until now. Yeah I'm doin' good. I never have time to write emails, so I just am going to take a pic of all my journal writing every day, at least for the MTC because that's where I talk about the day and all the good and bad stuff happening!

I'm dying to hear how everything is going. How is it being district leader? Keeping you busy I'm sure! Is the time going fast? Can you believe you will be in Missouri next week?!!  Craziness! Do you have your Ipads yet or will that happen in the mission field?
His district at the Provo Temple!

It's good. I get along well with my companion and have become really close too to Elder Blake Lamb from Roy, Utah. He is in my district, he's the zone leader, and I can tell we're going to be pals for a long time!! Time is going fast and slow at the same time. I don't know haha. No Ipads until the mission field.

I'm assuming your p-day is today. I am going to send you some photos each week by your p-day and so I will send you some today! Sarah and I are also going to get some photos printed for you of Claire and everybody! I will try to get them for your Monday package, but if not, I will get them to you soon!

We don't have another P day in the MTC, but we will try to write you the night before we leave to tell you our flight times and stuff, and let you know when I'll be calling from the airport.

Thumbs up to Tan's room at the MTC!
Have you been able to play piano and/or sing while in the MTC? Are any of the kids in your district musical? Have you had any cool devotionals?
Yeah actually! We went to a piano on the way to dinner one day, I played for them, they all thought it was cool and now they ask every day if we can go play the piano. They brag to everyone I can play any song they name. It's fun! We had Sister Wixom, the Primary President speak. That was cool!
Love ya so much! I keep finding myself wanting to yell down to you in the basement!:) We're so proud of you and look so forward to hearing about all your great adventures!
What would you rate your MTC experience so far? 10 being best ever and 1 being that it stinks! Hope it's close to a 10!
It's a 4 sometimes, but mostly a 9! haha It's kind of an emotional roller coaster but I'm noticing I'm handling it all really well, and not getting overwhelmed ever. I'm growin' up. :)
See you, love you and talk to you soon!

Backing up a week to the farewell!

February 21, 2016

Tanner's farewell was a week ago today, on Valentine's Day! Thanks so much to all of you who came out and supported him! It was such a nice day all around!

As it was a holiday weekend and many were out of town, I have had a handful of requests for his talk and even the musical number from the meeting. Tanner was on the piano and our across the street neighbor, Brigham, was on the violin, playing "If you Could Hie to Kolob" and it was beautiful, if I may say so myself! It's a rendition that the two of them arranged together and had previously performed a few weeks earlier at an early morning seminary fireside at our nearby high school!

Here are audios of the farewell talk and also the musical number in case you want to take a listen . . . just click on the links below!

"I'm alive and well!" #1

Our whole gang right before the MTC drop off!
We were thinking we would not hear from Tanner for about a week, and were pleasantly surprised that he had a few minutes on the first day to write us a short and sweet little message! We'll take it!

Email #1 from the MTC on February 17, 2016

We have a couple minutes to write a quick email. It's been a long day. Trying to get used to the schedule and knowing where everything is. I'll get the hang of it! It's good. It's an interesting place.

My companion is awesome. His name is Elder Fowlks. He's a nice humble kid. He's from Murray and his cousin Mitch Peterson was a friend of mine at Corner Canyon. Our district has 4 elders: Elder Miller and Elder Lamb, and our companionship. Then we have four sisters. Sister Ewing, Sister Bennett, and two others I can't remember. :/ Turns out we'll be in our suits most of the time. We have to be in our suits in the cafeteria, so most of the time we'll be in those. I'll keep you updated! :)

Love, Tan
